kasey R. herrera
Hello, I'm Kasey Herrera, the proud proprietor and Master Trainer at 2SpeakDog. My lifelong fascination has centered on the intricacies of psychology, particularly how our minds and bodies collaborate to convey a more profound narrative than what meets the eye. My journey commenced in 1994 within the realm of human psychology and behavior, delving into the realms of thought processes and communication patterns, even those that occur unconsciously. While transitioning away from the world of jury consulting and venturing further into the world of canine companions, I often quipped that I worked with "dogs" in both of my vocations, but the four-legged ones held my heart's preference (with no disrespect intended to litigators ).
Growing up surrounded by Great Danes kindled a profound affection for large breed dogs within me, although I hold all dogs dear. This sentiment is evident in my home, where I share my space with a rotating cast of 5-10 furry companions of all shapes and sizes. Nonetheless, my genuine calling, aptitudes, and passion revolve around educating dog owners and families about the behavior of dogs of all kinds, equipping them with the tools to communicate effectively. This pursuit not only nurtures more joyful and healthier relationships but also fosters a profound comprehension of the world of canines. It's a commonly held belief that "compromise, communication, and consistency are vital in all relationships, not just the romantic ones." I am eagerly looking forward to the opportunity to share my knowledge and training methodologies, empowering you and your four-legged companions to excel in these three crucial aspects of companionship.
Interns
Beth Adams
I have worked with 2SD for several years and enjoy helping Kasey on pack walks and special events. I have 2 Golden Retrievers Baylee (1 1/2 yrs.) and Maggie (4 yrs), and we love going on 'rambles' around Virginia. Maggie is a Dog On Call at VCU Health and Baylee hopes to join her soon."
LP Attkisson
Mom of three rescues, Pickle ( 1 1/2 yr old Pitbull), Aspen (5 yr old deaf Great Dane) and Primrose (6 yr old terrier mix. They all love going to the river and going for boat rides and just being couch potatoes. I've only been with 2SD for about a year but I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can so I can be the best dog mom I can be and hope to help others do the same.
Wendy Golbitz
I've been with 2SD for 7 years as a client and intern. I have 2 in my pack: a 4-year-old Charcoal lab, Gemma, and her new baby brother Silver Lab, Maverick aka Mav.
Gemma loves playing ball and is adjusting to her brother Mav. Mav loves chasing his sister around and just being a puppy. Would love to get Mav into some kind of therapy down the road.
Bethany Linden
I'm Bethany Linden and I have 5 dogs - Goliath and Gigi (presa canario mastiffs), Jett (cane corso), Chloe (Parsons Russell terrier), and Sunshine (kelpie). I started training with 2SD about 4 years ago with a crazy foster dog and with 5 dogs the more I can learn the better so interning was an excellent option.
Danielle Mitchell
My pack is currently at 6 and includes 2 hospice fosters. It spans the range from a 10 lbs terrier mix to the 100lb mastiff puppy. Buttercup is my heart dog and we are working on her CGC and therapy dog certification. The homestead also houses 33 cats, 9 goats, 4 ducks, 3 chickens, 2 turkeys, and a mini pig. We are only missing a partridge in a pear tree!
Tess Powers
I’m Tess and this is Nanny, my 11-year-old pittie. We’ve been clients at 2SD for almost three years and I started interning shortly after we attended classes. I particularly love interning at puppy classes and working with dogs out of the shelter who need extra help adjusting. As an older lady, Nanny spends most of her time lounging on the couch or in the sun. Fun fact: we live across the street from her former foster mom and visit for belly rubs almost daily!
Amy Willis
I have been a client of 2SD for almost 2 years, and began interning during the pandemic. My pack includes a German Shepherd, Charlie Pumpkin and fur siblings Twinkle (pittie mix) and Caleb (German Shepherd). Charlie and Caleb love playing frisbee and hanging out in their kiddie pool. Twinkle prefers the princess life of lounging around, binge watching TV and eating snacks with Mom. Eventually I hope to do therapy work with Charlie and would like to find something where we help our military veterans with PTSD.
