2SpeakDog Classes
THE CDC COVID RESTRICTIONS HAVE BEEN LIFTED. HOWEVER, PLEASE CONTINUE TO MONITOR YOUR OWN HEALTH FOR THE SAFTY OF OTHER IN CLASS.
To participate in class, 2SD requires proof of at least two rounds of the following vaccinations: distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, and parainfluenza (typically reflected in records as 'DHPP'), as well as bordetella. Proof of rabies vaccination is required for puppies 16 weeks and older. We also HIGHLY recommend Caine Influenza (H3N8 & H3n2).
If you are interested in training two or more dogs, whether they are litter mates or just house mates, please sign them up for classes or workshops individually. We do not recommend having both dogs in the same class, as they will be more successful building confidence on their own, learning to rely on you, instead of their pack mates.
2SpeakDog encourages attendance by the whole family. If you have young children, we ask that two adults attend class when possible.
New puppy socialization Class | 10 weeks to 5 months
Got a fuzzy bundle of fur and energy on your hands? If so, our New Puppy Socialization Class is for you! This four-week class caters specifically to pups 10 weeks to 5 months old. It focuses on puppy play time, proper puppy body language, learning how to safely socialize your pup, managing common puppy behaviors, calming and focus techniques, and a few basic obedience skills.
Class is designed to work with puppies' short attention spans, and allows for play breaks and puppy down time. Each class session includes an interactive discussion on various topics, including nipping/biting, potty training, crate training, controlled play, and more. This is great for both first-time puppy owners and as a refresher to experienced owners.
basic obedience Level i+II | AKC S.T.A.R. Pup | 6 months+
Basic I & II Obedience classes are designed to keep you and your pup working together while momentum is strong and you and your pup’s confidence is growing.
Basic I
This class has a well-rounded beginner curriculum designed to introduce obedience as well as good manners and social behavior. Basic Level I is appropriate for pups of all ages with little to no previous obedience training, including:
Young pups (typically in the 6 months+ range. However, If your puppy graduated from 2SD Puppy Socialization class then you can go right into Basic I)
Rescue/adopted dogs
Adult dogs that have or have not previously attended a formal obedience class
Deaf or blind dogs
All pups that have recently completed our New Puppy Socialization Class
We cover basic obedience commands such as sit, down, stay, leave it, behavior modifications (feeding ritual, resource guarding) , and overall good manners (loose leash walking, not jumping, owning space, meet and greets) teaching your pups to be the best version of themselves! At the end of 8 weeks, all pups under the age of 1 (at the time the class started) will still have the ability to test for their AKC STAR Puppy certification!
Basic II
This class takes everything you learned in Basic I and takes it up a notch! We hone your basic obedience skills, then practice them in real world situations. The city and surrounding areas will be your classroom! That's right, no sitting inside for every class to learn - we will be teaching you and your pup how to work with varying levels of distractions and in different environments. At the end of 8 weeks, all pups under the age of 1 (at the time the class started) will still have the ability to test for their AKC STAR Puppy certification!
2SpeakDog encourages attendance by the whole family. If you have young children, we ask that two adults attend class when possible.

Intermediate 1 & II Obedience
Have pup, will travel! If you want to take your pup along on all of your excursions, then these classes are the next step in that direction. Intermediate classes aims to transition your pup from obedience in mildly distracting environments to busy, highly populated places. We cover advanced focus, stay, come when called, and leave it, plus new skills such as drop it, wait, touch, tricks, and more. We also use off-site, public training to introduce social behaviors related to becoming an AKC Canine Good Citizen.
These class is appropriate for pups of all ages that have a strong base in sit, down, stay and basic leash manners while in a public environment. Because this series moves fast and all attendees need to have an equal knowledge base coming in, completion of Basic II Obedience is strongly preferred. Exceptions can be made with completion of Walking Workshop levels I and II in advance of enrollment and an instructor evaluation for prerequisite skills.
