We are thrilled to announce our brand new Older Puppy Socialization Class!

Do you have a lively, fuzzy puppy aged 5-12 months? If so, our Older Puppy Socialization Class is perfect for you! This 4-week course is tailored specifically for older puppies ready to begin obedience training while still needing off-leash socialization. The class covers basic obedience, loose leash walking, understanding puppy body language, safe socialization practices, managing common behaviors, calming and focus techniques, and a few essential obedience skills.

Designed to accommodate the short attention spans of both puppies and their humans, each hour-long session includes play breaks and downtime. We’ll also discuss important topics like nipping/biting, potty training, crate training, controlled play, and more.

This class is ideal for first-time puppy owners, those continuing from our New Puppy Socialization class, or experienced owners looking for a refresher.

If you are interested in training two or more dogs, whether they are litter mates or just house mates, please sign them up individually. We recommend attending individually rather than in the same class to build confidence independently and to learn to rely on you instead of their pack mate/s.

Dogs that have completed 2SpeakDog's Intermediate Levels I and II are encouraged to join! Clients new to 2SpeakDog must contact us about possibly needing to do a 45 minute evaluation/training session to make sure your pup is at the right level for this class.

This class will focus exclusively on training for the AKC Canine Good Citizen, Community Canine (CGC Advanced), and Urban CGC Programs. We'll fine-tune skills like advanced focus, maintaining a steady stay, reliable recall (even in the midst of excitement), and the essential "leave it" command. But that's not all – we're introducing a range of exciting new skills, as well as some fun tricks that'll surely impress.

To enroll in this class, you've got a couple of pathways. If your pup has completed our Basic Level II, they're good to go. We are so excited to announce our brand NEW OLDER Puppy Socialization Class!

Have a fuzzy bundle of fur and energy on your hands, aged 5-12 months? If so, our Older Puppy Socialization Class is for you! This 4-week class caters specifically to older puppies who are ready to begin some real obedience training, but still need off-leash socialization opportunities! It focuses on beginning obedience, beginning loose leash walking, proper puppy body language, learning how to safely socialize your pup, managing common puppy behaviors, calming and focus techniques, and a few basic obedience skills.

This class is designed to work with puppies' (and humans) short attention spans and allows for play breaks and down time. Each hour-long class includes a discussion on topics such as nipping/biting, potty training, crate training, controlled play, and more.

This is a great class for first-time puppy owners or for continuation from our first New Puppy Socialization class. It is also a great refresher for experienced owners.

If you are interested in training two or more dogs, whether they are litter mates or just house mates, please sign them up individually. We recommend attending individually rather than in the same class to build confidence independently and to learn to rely on you instead of their pack mate/s.

This class will be held at our new facility in Stony Point Fashion Park.

Week 1: Nov. 10, 6:30pm - (Virtual)
Week 2: Nov. 17, 6:30pm
*Week 3: Nov. 19, 4:00pm (Walking class will 1.5 hours and held on Sunday)
Week 4: Dec. 1, 6:30pm
Week 5: Dec. 8, 6:30pm
Week 6: Dec. 15, 6:30pm

Holiday Break! NO CLASS Dec. 22nd or 29th)

Week 7: Jan. 5, 6:30pm
Week 8: Jan. 12 , 6:30pm - GRADUATION 🎓

To participate in class, 2SD requires proof of at least two rounds of the following vaccinations: distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, and parainfluenza (typically reflected in records as 'DHPP'), as well as bordetella. Proof of rabies vaccination is required for puppies 16 weeks and older.

This class has a well-rounded beginner curriculum designed to introduce obedience as well as good manners and social behavior. Basic Level I is appropriate for pups of all ages with little to no previous obedience training, including:

--Young pups (6 months +)
--Rescue/adopted dogs
--Adult dogs that have not previously attended a formal obedience class
--Pups that have recently completed our New Puppy Socialization Class!

We cover basic obedience commands such as sit, down, stay, leave it, etc. We also introduce leash walking, feeding rituals, tricks, and strategies for impolite behaviors such as jumping. This is an on-leash class. Pups under 1 year of age will have the opportunity to earn their AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy title on graduation night.

2SpeakDog encourages attendance by the whole family. If you have young children, we ask that two adults attend class when possible.

Please Note: If you are interested in training two or more dogs, whether they are litter mates or just house mates, please sign them up for classes or workshops individually. We do not recommend having both dogs in the same class, as they will be more successful building confidence on their own, learning to rely on you, instead of their pack mates.
